Windows Vista: Adding the Wireless Printer
| Note: To add the “Wireless Printer” to your printer list you must already be logged on to the CSUSB Wireless Network. |
| Requirements: | 1. Your MyCoyote username and password (to log onto the CSUSB wireless network) |
|---|---|
| 2. A laptop running Windows XP, Vista, or Mac OS X, and with wireless capability* (May work with other Operating Systems but has not been tested by Academic Computing and Media) |
1. Locate and open the “Add A Printer” by selecting:
Start > Control Panel, then select “Hardware and Sound” > Add a Printer”
2. Then it will ask to choose a local or network printer. Choose second option, “Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer”, then select “the printer I want wasn’t listed”.
3. In the window that opens you will tell the computer which printer(s) you want to “add”. Type in Printer Name:
(for ACM b/w printer): \\acm1109print1.csusb.edu\1109print1
(for ACM color printer): \\acm1109print1.csusb.edu\1109color
(for Jack Brown printer): \\139.182.162\JB123_PAID4. Select “Next” (You may receive a message regarding the installation of printer drivers. This is a normal and necessary step.)
For 64-Bit OS only:
4a. You will see a message that says "The server for the printer does not have the correct driver installed." Select OK.
4b. A box asking for the location of the drivers will appear. Type in the following:
\\acm1109print1.csusb.edu\print$\x64\bw
\\acm1109print1.csusb.edu\print$\x64\color4c. Select OK.
5. Decide if you want this to be your default printer, (Yes or No), and select "Next".
6. Select “Finish”.
7. Send a test print to this printer. If you do not receive an error message, you have successfully setup your laptop for “wireless printing”! If do you receive an error message, see an on-duty Lab Technician for assistance.
To
identify your print jobs, you must know your “Computer
Name” or “IP Address” Labs are not responsible for documents printed out by mistake. |
