Training Consultant
$8.00 - $8.50 per hour
The Student Technology Support Center (STSC), located in PL-1108, is a learning center for technology skills enhancement. It provides learning resources for students to acquire skills and understanding of technology tools integral to the learning experience at CSUSB. Academic Computing and Media offers the STSC as a resource for students to prepare themselves with the latest technological skills and knowledge. The STSC works with students and their instructors to offer training workshops and collaborative instruction on current campus technology resources.
- Intermediate or advanced skill with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and with Blackboard and/or WebCT online course management programs
- Familiarity with the ACM Self-Instructional computer lab network and functions
- Experience in providing end user support in a computer lab environment
- Advanced oral and written communication skills
- Intermediate-level problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Professional work habits are essential
- Have an understanding of the policies of STP, its purpose, and goals.
- Minimum one year of experience as an ACM Self-Instructional Computer Lab
- Consultant
- Previous experience as a trainer
- Previous experience with public speaking
- Previous experience with developing training courses or end-user documentation
- Facilitate instruction for training classes and workshops
- Provide individualized support and assistance for campus supported software
- Telephone and walk-in support for online courses using Blackboard and WebCT
- Develop and maintain end-user support documentation and instructional material
- Maintain cleanliness of the training lab facility, including Training Consultant desk
- Facilitate contact for STSC Coordinator (i.e. Meeting Maker, etc.)
STP Area Supervisor and ACM Student Technology Support Center Coordinator.
Performance evaluation is done by the STP Area Supervisor in conjunction with Area Staff.
After a period of service, the Training Consultant is eligible to move within other STP positions; these moves could include supervisor, highly-technical, managerial positions.
