Wage Ranges: Starting at $7.50 per hour

ACM Service Area Overview:

Whether the equipment is already installed in one of our Smart Classrooms or needs to be delivered to your classroom, our staff will ensure you have what you need.  Equipment for special campus events or for your next meeting or conference is also available.  Media Services maintains an extensive video library, listed on the Library OPAC system, available for checkout by faculty and staff. These selections may be placed on reserve for students as a supplement to classroom instruction. We have an audio & video preview facility available for the convenience of the campus community.  Our micro teaching rooms provide students with a location to videotape simulated interviews, counseling or teaching sessions for hands-on, practical learning opportunities. Video editing stations are available in the self-instructional computer labs. Audio and video duplication is available within copyright guidelines.  Our instructional media and computer/software technicians are available to advise faculty and staff in proper operation of computers and offer campus software support as well as electronic equipment maintenance and repair for State & Foundation equipment only.

Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of audio/visual equipment, in addition to good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well as a team member is essential.
  • Ability to adapt and learn quickly is essential.
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs (e.g. MS Word, Excel, and FileMaker Pro) is a plus.
  • Have an understanding of the policies of STP, its purpose, and goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidates will work in Media Services, Coyote One Card office, and Special Events. Duties include:

  • Delivering equipment to various locations on campus
  • Taking equipment requests and assisting patrons at the front desk
  • Checking out videotapes to faculty and staff
  • Maintaining the physical video library and video library database
  • Scheduling of microteaching rooms and assisting patrons with video/audio duplication requests
  • Providing access to videotapes or DVDs reserved by faculty, as well as, access to audio & video preview facilities to the students
  • Assisting ACM staff members when necessary
  • Setup and operation of multimedia technology in classrooms
  • Demonstrating multimedia technology operation to faculty, staff, and students
  • Installing authorized client software in classroom multimedia racks and podiums
  • Troubleshooting and resolving classroom technology problems
  • Maintaining proper operation of equipment
  • Taking requests and maintaining the database that schedules daily orders
  • Regular inspections of classroom multimedia equipment
  • Answering client calls for service
  • Issuing computer passwords and keys to authorized end-users
  • Assisting with special projects (e.g. new Smart Room and podium installations). Some of these special projects require lifting heavy equipment and related materials.
Reports to:

STP Area Supervisor and Media Services Office Manager

Evaluation:

Performance evaluation is done by the STP Area Supervisor in conjunction with Area Staff.

Career Path:

After a period of service, the Media Services Technician is eligible to move within other STP positions; these moves could include advanced skill level, supervisor, highly technical or managerial positions.
