Qualifications:

The applicant must have an interest in a wide variety of contemporary music genres with a great emphasis on several "underground" genres usually associated with college radio. Open-mindedness is key! Good communication and organizational skills also are encouraged.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Music Director will be in charge of managing and maintaining all audio equipment associated with the radio station.  The position entails the operations, training, and basic troubleshooting of control room equipment, software, and mobile promotions equipment.  Under the general supervision of the Director of Academic Computing Media and the direct supervision of the Station manager, the Music Director supervises the incoming music for airplay, develops a relationship with music labels, and works with his or her staff to catalogue and maintain the music library.  This person will make sure that the program daily logs are reported to College Music Journal (CMJ) and other licensing entities who request our play list.  The MD is required to hold regularly scheduled office hours in the radio station, check messages, return phone calls or other forms of correspondence, communicated with DJ’s and other staff members, as well as review music and report back to the labels.  The MD is also responsible for uploading only clean music into the control room and promotional libraries.  If desirable songs contain minor vulgarities, the MD is authorized to edit them using professional editing software (Adobe Audition).

Reports to: 

The STP Area Supervisor and Coyote Radio Station Manager

Evaluation:.

Performance evaluation is done by the STP Area Supervisor in conjunction with Area Staff.

 

Career Path:

After a period of service, the Coyote Radio Music Director is eligible to move within other STP positions; these moves could include advanced skill level, supervisor, highly technical or managerial positions.
