Job Position Name: STP Assistant Operations Manager

Wage Ranges: Starting at $9.25 per hour

 

ACM Service Overview:

The Student Technician Program (STP) hires and trains students for some of the most technically advanced and in-demand positions available at CSUSB. Averaging sixty student employees throughout the academic school year, STP is the largest single on-campus department of student employees.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Operations Manager supports the responsibilities of the Operations Manager in the day to day communication between the ACM Director, STP Coordinator, and Area Supervisors with the program.

Qualifications

STP Assistant Operations Manager candidates will have the following experience, skills, interests, and abilities:

  • At least one year experience of STP Supervisor including an annual evaluation
  • Strong knowledge of the structure and processes of STP.
  • Cross training experience in at least two (2) different areas of Academic Computing and Media, or have had leadership position(s) in the area(s) assigned
  • Must have consistently high ratings in evaluations.
  • Understanding of Student Technician Program policies and guidelines
  • Satisfactory attendance of training workshops from previous quarters
  • Ability to work with software programs including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, time-clock, and internet applications
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with fellow employees and supervisors
  • Highly demonstrable Organizational abilities
  • Highly demonstrable Communication abilities

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Operations Manager in day to day responsibilities
  • Direct supervision of Area Supervisors including assisting them with any questions they might have.
  • facilitating any student/staff meetings and holding my areas accountable for expected results
  • Monitoring and verification of area time-clock hours
  • Addressing staffing issues as they arise
  • Hiring and interviewing for assigned areas as well as STP management
  • Responsible for student recruitment including monster.com and other recruitment opportunities
  • Representing STP in a professional manner outside of the traditional workplace (job fairs, emails, and other recruitment opportunities, etc)
  • Assist the handling of disciplinary actions when needed
  • Assist in training STP staff for possible STP Management opportunities
  • Directly involved with the evaluation and restructuring of the STP Program.
  • Work with ACM employees in recruitment and staffing of Step 3-6 students
  • Coordinate and supervise quarterly evaluations of all STP employees.
  • Assist in review of Annual Evaluations and determining who is eligible for a pay increased based on evaluations and portfolio.
  • Assure that all MOU conditions are met by STP.
  • Have a positive attitude towards all ACM personnel, and lead by example.

 

Reports to:

ACM Director and STP Coordinator.

Evaluation:

Student is evaluated quarterly and annually by ACM Director and STP Coordinator.

Career Path:

After a period of service, the STP Assistant Operations Manager is eligible to move within other STP Management positions including Operations Manager.
