Smart Classrooms

Desktop Computer w/ CD/DVD and Zip Drive

The desktop computer is actually located underneath the desk at the front of the classroom.  After turning it on, select Network Computer on the control panel located under the keyboard. Note: You must have a password to access the computer. Use the numeric keyboard to enter the password.
Podium

The podium in UH-106 can be adjusted vertically by toggling the black switch located on the right-hand side as you stand in front of it. It also comes equipped with an electrical outlet on the upper right side of the wooden unit.
Laptop
(not included in classroom)
VIEW EXAMPLE
To use your Laptop Computer, connect your laptop monitor out to the VGA Cable located under the keyboard. Select "Laptop" on the control panel.
Control Panel

The Control panel is used to power ON and OFF the video projector, and select the source of video to be displayed by the video projector. It also controls the sound.
Light Controls

Controls for all the lights in the room are located on the wall across from the emergency doors.  The lights are labeled.
Screen
The Screen Switch is located on the same wall as the lights, in front of the emergency exit doors. Look for a black switch.
Wireless Microphone
To use the mic turn it on and adjust the volume with the SHURE wireless receiver which is below the table.
Wireless Mouse

If you need a wireless mouse you can pick one up from Media Services or your department office. To enable the wireless mouse, place the mouse in the base station, located next to the monitor and press the small middle button. A green light will flash.

To operate  the mouse away from the table, place your index finger underneath the mouse to depress the activation button. The cursor moves only when the activation button is depressed. You can use your thumb to click the mouse buttons. At the end of your class, please return the mouse. The wireless mouse should not be left in the equipment rack.
Cassette Player - dual deck
To use the cassette player, make sure that the projector is off, then adjust the volume on the Smart Panel.
DVD/VCR Player Combo

To use the VCR, turn on the VCR and insert your VHS tape into the VCR and press play. Select Video or DVD/VCR combo on the control panel. Note: If you hear a noise from the VCR, use the tracking adjusttment or channel up/down to rid of it.
Slide Projector
To use the Slide projectors, use the AMX remote located in the podium drawer or in the booth in the back of the classroom. Keys for the booth can be obtained from your department office.

Inside the podium is the Control Panel from which you turn on and off the Video Projector. To use the Video Projector press the ON button, located on the Control Panel, under the ProjectorIt takes a few minutes for the projector to fully warm up.  Turn off the projector by holding down the OFF button on the Control Panel.
Sound Adjustments
Sound (other than the microphone sound) is controled with the control panel in the podium.
Assistive Technology
Assistive Hearing devices and microphones are available to students who are hearing impaired. Please tell your students that they can check out a device from Services to Students with Disabilities in University Hall (UH-183).
