Mandatory Training Classes:

Introduction to ACM/STP Workshop:

This workshop introduces the structure of Academic Computing and Media as well as the Student Technology Program. Includes basic knowledge of the departments and staff. Assessment will be conducted at the end of the workshop - 80% is deemed passing.

Professional Development Training:

Professional development training is aimed ad providing employees with a variety of life skills, making them more economically viable upon graduation from the Program and the University. The training curriculum provides training, workshops, and assessment in areas such as Time Management, Diversity Sensitivity, Organizational Skills, Career Exploration, Resume Writing, and Interviewing Skills that employees will be able to use in marketing themselves for professional employment, as well as bein successful in the professional world.

Using Blackboard

This workshop will cover the basic and most commonly used components of the Blackboard Learning Management System, i.e. "Blackboard". It also will cover commonly asked questions and troubleshooting techniques used to assist students. Assessment will be conducted at the end of the workshop - 80% is deemed passing.

Email Etiquette:

This workshop will cover basic socially accepted ways of electronic communication using the internet as well as protecting yourself and your company from various risks and/or lawsuits. Assessment will be conducted at the end of the workshop - 80% is deemed passing.

Dealing with Disabilities:

This workshop will touch on basic operations of some commonly used software programs used with students that have disabilities. It also introduces basic, polite ways of interacting with people who have various types of disabilities. Assessment will be conducted at the end of the workshop - 80% is deemed passing.

       


Resume Writing (Basic):

This workshop will help attendants learn resumewriting basics and the purpose of having a well-presented resume, how to properly display skills on a resume, different resume styles, and how to create a 'computer friendly' resume. Assessment will be conducted at the end of the workshop - 80% is deemed passing.

       


Time Management:

This workshop will discuss the importance of time management as well as its positive and negative effects. Assessment will be conducted at the end of the workshop - 80% is deemed passing.

       


Customer Service Skills:

This workshop will provide an understanding of what customer service excellence is, identification of key customer service skills and roadblocks to good service, recognizing customer's emotional levels, and identification of effective listening skills. Assessment will be conducted at the end of the workshop - 80% is deemed passing.

       


TNS Area Training:

This workshop will instructor attendants how to use the computerized telecommunication operating system to field and transfer calls for the campus. It also will cover the proper ways of answering the phone and what to 'do' when certain circumstances arise. Assessment will be conducted at the end of the workshop - 80% is deemed passing.
