ACM Service Area Name: Web Development

Job Position Name: Web Developer

Wage Ranges: $8.75 - $9.50 per hour

ACM Service Area Overview:

Web design services are available for faculty and departments interested in developing Web pages for campus related services. Web designers are available to test drive completed web sites or provide instruction and support for a person to develop their own. In addition, ACM Staff can advise a person on the latest styles and features of web page design. Approved campus departments and organizations may also request server space that will be hosted, and designed if needed, on secure, monitored servers.

Qualifications:

Web Developer candidates will have the following experience, skills, interests, and abilities:

  • Static and dynamic HTML and VBScript/JavaScript enhanced web pages.
  • MS SQL database driven Internet Web applications using HTML, VBScript, JavaScript, and MS SQL.
  • Proficiency in handling multiple websites and Web projects.
  • Proficiency with the current version of Windows, IIS, and SQL platforms for Internet development.
  • Proficiency with the current version of Internet development applications such as: Home Site, Visual InterDev, Top Style, Dream Weaver, etc.
  • Proficiency with current and evolving Internet development languages and skills such as: HTML, ASP (VBScript and JavaScript), JavaScript, MS SQL, DHTML, CSS, XML, .Net, etc.
  • Proficiency with Internet email, File Transfer Protocol, and WinZip file compression
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Have an understanding of the policies of STP, its purpose, and goals

Preferences:

Web Developer candidates should have familiarity, interest, and ability to:

  • Use and learn new Internet languages and skills as required.
  • Develop solutions to unique Internet challenges.
  • Work in a team environment with multiple projects and tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under supervision, the Web Developer will:

  • Develop and maintain web pages and applications for multiple websites
  • Develop solutions for projects independently and in collaboration with the Web Development team
  • Develop projects using the current version of Windows-based Internet server platforms and applications
  • Work with contacts from multiple departments to learn project requirements
  • Develop static and dynamic web application solutions using current and developing Internet programming languages and skills such as HTML, ASP, VBScript, JavaScript, MS SQL, DHTML, CSS, XML, .Net, etc.
Reports to:

STP Area Supervisor and ACM Webmaster.

Evaluation:

Performance evaluation is done by the STP Specific Area Supervisor.

Career Path:

After a period of service, the Web Developer is eligible to move laterally into other STP positions; this move could include managerial position.
