ACM Service Area Name: Student Technician Program

Job Position Name: Area Supervisor

Wage Ranges: $8.50-$9.50 per hour

ACM Service Overview:

The Student Technician Program (STP) hires and trains students for some of the most technically advanced and in-demand positions available at CSUSB. Averaging sixty student employees throughout the academic school year, STP is the largest single on-campus department of student employees.

Position Overview:

The Area Supervisor supports the responsibilities of day-to-day communication and student staffing issues between the ACM Area Staff, STP Operations Manager, and STP Coordinator.

Qualifications

STP Area Supervisor candidates will have the following experience, skills, interests, and abilities:

  • One year experience working in the Student Technician Program
  • Cross training experience in different areas of Academic Computing and Media
  • Understanding of Student Technician Program policies and guidelines
  • Satisfactory attendance of training workshops from previous quarters
  • Ability to work with software programs including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Timeclock, and internet applications
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with fellow employees and supervisors
  • Demonstrable Organizational abilities
  • Demonstrable Communication skills

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise designated areas in Academic Computing and Media
  • Coordinate student worker schedules on a quarterly basis
  • Conduct hiring interviews with Manager supervision
  • Manage new hire and returning student paperwork
  • Communicate with Area Staff Members
  • Communicate with employees
  • Attend weekly meetings with Academic Computing and Media Director
  • Monitor STP employee attendance
  • Enforce Student Technician Program policies fairly for all employees
  • Work with the Academic Computing and Media Coordinator to ensure program is effectively managed
  • Work in different areas of Academic Computing and Media when coverage is not readily available

 

Reports to: STP Coordinator

Evaluation:

Performance evaluation is done by the STP Operations Manager in conjunction with STP Coordinator

Career Path:

After a period of service, the STP Area Supervisor is eligible to move within other STP Management positions.
